My Friends Are Telling Me to Abort, But I’m Not Ready

When friends give advice, they usually mean well, but sometimes their advice can seem more like a demand. You need the support of friends and family to help you through an unplanned pregnancy, but too much advice is stressful. You are the only one who can decide how to handle your pregnancy.

The Hope Clinic for Women team understands the seriousness of your decision. If you need someone to talk to who will genuinely listen, we are here for you. Schedule a free appointment today.

Have You Confirmed Your Pregnancy?

You would think a late period and a positive pregnancy test would be all you need to confirm your pregnancy, but there may be more to know. Experts estimate that as many as 26% of all pregnancies end in a miscarriage. That’s more than one in every four pregnancies!

Because it takes a woman’s body time to return to pre-pregnancy hormone levels, it’s possible to get a positive pregnancy test and no longer be pregnant. How do you find out if you have miscarried? With an ultrasound.

Hope Clinic for Women provides free limited OB ultrasounds for women who get a positive pregnancy test at our clinic. Not only will you find out if your pregnancy is developing, but you will also learn how far along you are and the pregnancy’s location.

The FDA approves the use of abortion drugs through 10 weeks of pregnancy only. The drugs become less effective the further along you are, so it’s essential to have the exact date.

Although rare, some pregnancies begin growing outside the uterus. These are called ectopic pregnancies, which are extremely dangerous to your health and safety.

An ultrasound is an essential step to determine if you are eligible for an abortion.

Did You Know You Have Options?

Once you have confirmed your pregnancy, we encourage you to consider all your options. You have three: have an abortion, make an adoption plan, or choose to parent.

If you’re not ready to have an abortion, take a look at your other options. A lot has changed with adoption in the last few decades. Now, the expectant mother makes all the decisions. She chooses the adoptive family that raises her child and the amount of contact she would like to have with them as the child grows.

When you select a reputable, licensed adoption coordinator, they cover all your medical and legal expenses. Plus, you receive adoption counseling before, during, and long after the finalization. It costs you nothing to place your child for adoption.

If you feel ready to parent but aren’t sure where to begin, we can help you. We provide prenatal, parenting, and life skills classes at no cost. We can also help you develop a plan and put you in touch with community resources to assist you.

When it comes to feeling pressure from loved ones, remember: this is your pregnancy. You have the right to determine what’s best for you and your future.

Do You Need Someone To Talk To?

We can be that neutral third party if you need someone to talk to. Although we do not perform or refer for abortions, we can give you factual information about abortion procedures and potential risks.

Schedule a free appointment with us. We’ll provide information, a listening ear, and, if necessary, a shoulder to cry on.
