Hiding My Pregnancy: Would Abortion Be an Option?
If you’re experiencing an unexpected pregnancy, feeling self-conscious and the need to hide it is understandable, but there is a difference between hiding a pregnancy and ending one. The bigger question is, “Why do you want to hide it?” Do you feel ashamed, embarrassed, or afraid? No one has the right to make you feel ashamed or fearful because you are pregnant.
At Hope Clinic for Women, we offer services to help those who may be feeling a range of emotions after discovering they are pregnant. Please schedule a free and confidential appointment at our clinic.
Although we do not perform or refer for abortion, we can confirm your pregnancy with free pregnancy services, discuss your situation, and help you find a solution.
Why Do You Want to Hide Your Pregnancy?
If you are afraid because you are pregnant, we want you to know help is available. If someone is abusive, we encourage you to call the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 800-799-SAFE (7233) for 24/7 support.
Research indicates that abuse often increases when a partner discovers a pregnancy. Don’t live in fear. Call the hotline or one of our caring team members.
Are you ashamed of or embarrassed by your pregnancy? If so, we understand. An unplanned pregnancy is a shock. You may worry about how your parents, partner, or friends will react.
We can help you with various ways to break the news to your loved ones. You can also invite them to come with you when you visit.
Have You Confirmed Your Pregnancy?
A late period and a positive pregnancy test may not be enough information to determine if you are pregnant. Experts estimate that 26% of all pregnancies end in a miscarriage. Most occur within the first 12 weeks.
Because it takes time for your body to return to pre-pregnancy hormone levels, it is possible to get a positive pregnancy test result days or weeks after a miscarriage. Confirming your pregnancy is essential.
We offer free, confidential pregnancy testing. You may also be eligible for a free limited ultrasound if your test is positive. Talk with us about confirming your pregnancy before scheduling an abortion.
Did You Know You Have Options?
There is more than one option for your unplanned pregnancy. However, two options require you to carry your pregnancy to full term. Although your pregnancy is unexpected, it doesn’t mean it would be impossible to parent your child.
At Hope Clinic for Women, we provide free educational opportunities so you can learn about prenatal care, childbirth, and parenting techniques. You can also meet with a personal mentor who will help you discover community resources for housing, food, medical care, and financial needs.
If parenting is out of the question, why not consider making an adoption plan for your child? Although adoption is not an easy decision, it is sometimes the best choice for you and your child.
As the expectant mother, you can select the adoptive family that raises your child and determine how much contact you want to have with them later on. By working with a reputable, licensed adoption coordinator, all of your medical and legal expenses are covered. It costs you nothing to place your child for adoption.
